Alleviating Suffering, Abolishing Poverty
Here at Provision International, compassion goes hand in hand with creativity. We are told many time in Scripture that when Jesus was moved with compassion, He healed them all.
It should be no less so with us. All of the creative gifts and talents the Father has given us are best expressed through a heart of compassion.
The Random House Dictionary defines compassion: –noun
- a feeling of deep sympathy and sorrow for another who is stricken by misfortune, accompanied by a strong desire to alleviate the suffering.
This is why Provision International's purpose is ASAP: Alleviating Suffering Abolishing Poverty.
This world is in a state of constant misfortune. We see it on a daily basis and are commanded to help those who are less fortunate than us. We must remember that our level of fortune and richness is defined by the Kingdom of God and His riches in glory, not by the definition the world places on fortune and richness.
Romans 9:23 states, "and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory," we are the vessels of mercy prepared for glory!
The "good news" that Jesus said we are anointed to preach to the poor, is the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. His riches are inexhaustible and we have access to them as our inheritance.
In Acts 3:6, Peter and John faced the man, crippled since birth, at the Beautiful Gate and said, "Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”
Riches are not necessarily about money as the world views it but is about sharing the Kingdom and His riches. Remember what you have inside you, and when compassion rises up within you, give what you have.
Father, bless your people with hearts of compassion as we walk with You each day!
